Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Q.

Why should I choose a ONE AllRatings CERTIFIED company over a non-certified company?

A.

Because you are more likely to feel confident about your choice and have a good experience since each has scored 90.0+ in TOTAL SCORE and is certified for license, insurance, complaint handling, and disclosures including work practices, projects, staffing and equipment. Plus, you’rebacked by our ONE AllRatings Performance Guarantee.

Q.

Can a company get a Higher Rating Score by advertising or paying for something?

A.

No. Each company’s rating scores are calculated and presented with the same methodology.

Q.

Can a company cheat to make their Rating Score Higher?

A.

Yes. Go to any popular review site and you’ll see some companies trying to game its review system with cherry-picked and fake reviews. ONE AllRatings gives you the most accurate rating score for each company because it is a super-composite rating that uses reviews from all review sites, and then optimizes these reviews for accuracy and recency. Then, we go even further. We even downweight reviews from less trustworthy sources and from companies that show a history of manipulating reviews.

Q.

What if I have a bad experience at a High-Rated company?

A.

Contact the owner of the company and explain the problem. Use your job contract for reference. Describe what reasonable steps the company can take to correct the problem. If they refuse to fix the problem and the company is ONE AllRatings CERTIFIED contact us at (800) xxx-xxxx and we will help you.

Q.

What do you mean when you say that each review is weighted by recency?

A.

If you needed to predict how a company will perform this month for your family, would you rather see ratings from the last two years or from way back in 2012? As time passes people and companies change, so old ratings are less predictive of current company performance. That’s why we weight a rating score from four years ago half of what we weight one from this year and a rating score from seven years ago only one-fifth the value of a current review.

Q.

Why do you remove reviews from people who were not customers of the company?

A.

Many review sources count these ratings, causing a distorted, inaccurate customer satisfaction star score. When you spend your money, you want what was promised. It’s misleading to count a5-star score from a guy who never used the company but loves the paint job on a roofing van he sees parked in a neighbor’s driveway the same as a 1-star score from that neighbor who actually used the company and endured delays and shoddy work on her $10,000 roof project.

Q.

Who pays for all the Ratings work? How do you make your money to cover costs?

A.

Companies that score 80 and above in their TOTAL SCORE are allowed to pay for advertising on our website. Companies that score 90 and above in their TOTAL SCORE and agree to additional requirements are allowed to apply for ONE AllRatings CERTIFIED. Fees collected from these companies allow us to do the work required to present you with the most accurate ratings of local companies available anywhere.
